What is the Claude SEO skill?

Do I need the skill files, or is the connector enough?

What the skill does, what the connection does

seodraft splits a Claude SEO skill into two parts. The skill is the workflow: getting-started-seodraft walks through connecting seodraft and setting up the site profile one question at a time, and seodraft-content-desk carries the loop from profile to topics to research to evidence to draft to the rules to review to delivery, with your approval required before anything leaves the workspace.

The MCP connection is what the skill reads from. It supplies the measured search volume from your own DataForSEO account, the evidence bank of facts only your business knows, and the rules that check filler, keyword placement, an answer under every heading, three pieces of your evidence and cannibalization before a draft counts as done.

Both skills live in the public seodraft-agents repository next to a Cursor plugin and one editorial rule. That rule blocks filler intros and ranking promises, keeps one primary keyword per post, and holds delivery until the owner says yes. Claude Code loads skills from a folder, and every Claude surface can also read the writing standard live by calling get_skill or opening seodraft.app/skill.

After connecting

seodraft.app turns from waiting to connected the moment the first authenticated tool call lands, from either Claude surface. From there Claude can read your profile, propose topics with measured volume, draft against your accepted evidence and run the rules before asking you to approve.

Delivery lands as Markdown, HTML or a git draft carrying draft: true in your repository. Publishing stays a step you take yourself, in your own CMS.

What Claude does not do here

On claude.ai and Claude Desktop a person adds the connector by hand. Claude Code is the Claude surface that can add the server by itself from the copied prompt.
The two skills and the editorial rule ship as files in seodraft-agents. Nothing copies them into ~/.claude/skills for you, so a Claude Code user places them by hand.
seodraft never calls a model on Claude's behalf and never sells tokens. The writing runs inside the Claude subscription you already pay for, and the only spend seodraft can trigger is your own DataForSEO balance, shown as an estimate before each paid call.
