Feature · Plan

Your agent measures search demand with your own DataForSEO account.

DataForSEO is a third-party search-data API, and seodraft calls it with the API login and password you saved in your profile. Every paid call is priced before it runs, and what the provider charged is read back from its own response and stored. The card below is what each of those calls costs in the rate table seodraft ships.

What is DataForSEO?

DataForSEO is an API that sells search data: Google keyword volume, search intent, and the whole result page for a query. It is a separate company with its own account and its own balance. seodraft is not DataForSEO and does not resell it.

In seodraft the account is yours. You deposit money with the provider, save the API login and password once, and the charges land on that account at the provider's own prices. The connection is optional: without credentials the topic bank still holds your questions, volumes are stored as estimates and labeled that way, and no paid call is made.

What your agent buys

Search volume
Google Ads monthly volume for the terms in your topic bank, one request per batch of up to 1000.
AI search volume
Volume for the same term inside AI assistants, from DataForSEO's AI Optimization endpoint.
Search intent
Whether a query is informational, commercial, navigational or transactional.
Live SERP
The result page for one topic: People Also Ask, the domains that get cited, the titles that rank.
AI Overview
Every SERP asks for the AI Overview load, which is what makes an absent one provable.
Balance and spend
The dataforseo_status tool returns the account balance and what seodraft has spent from it.

Estimates read from seodraft's rate table on September 24, 2026, against DataForSEO's public price list. An account that reports its own rates is priced from those instead, and the figure stored after a call is what the provider said it charged.

How a paid call runs

Every paid call goes through the same three steps before your balance moves.

  1. 1

seodraft prices the call. It builds the request plan and estimates it from the rates your account reports, or from the public list when the account reports none.

  2. 2

The ceilings decide. Over $0.50 in one call, or $2.00 in the last 24 hours, the call is refused and nothing is measured or charged.

  3. 3

The real cost is stored. DataForSEO reports what it charged in the same response, and that number goes to the ledger dataforseo_status reads.

What it costs

seodraft is $5 a month and adds nothing to the provider's prices. What DataForSEO charges comes out of the balance you deposited there: about $0.004 for one SERP brief, about $0.11 to re-measure a batch of volumes.

Measured metrics are reused for 30 days and a stored brief for 14, so deepening the same topic twice in that window buys nothing twice. Re-measuring is always an explicit call with its estimate shown, never a side effect of something else.

Questions about the DataForSEO connection

Short answers on the account, where credentials live and what your agent sees without them.

Does seodraft resell DataForSEO?
No. You open an account at DataForSEO, deposit your own balance and save the API login and password in your seodraft profile. There is no shared platform account, and the prices you pay are the provider's.
Where are my credentials stored?
Encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM under the server's SECRETS_KEY. The password is never returned by an MCP tool and never shown back in the profile form, and disconnecting clears the pair.
What does my agent see without DataForSEO?
The topic bank, the calendar, the rules and delivery all work. Volumes come back as estimates and are labeled as such, and dataforseo_status answers that this workspace cannot measure, with the reason missing-credentials.
