Claude SEO: do SEO inside Claude Code
A free mini-course on two tools that work together: claude-seo, a plugin that runs on your machine, and seodraft, an MCP server that keeps the plan. You run every command yourself.

Paste this into Claude Code and your agent walks you through the course, stopping at every checkpoint.
This course is independent. It has no affiliation with Anthropic or with AgriciDaniel, who writes claude-seo, and nobody on their side reviewed it. Written against claude-seo v2.4.1 (README, 2026-10-01).
What you will be able to do
- Say what a skill, a plugin and an MCP server each are, and which of them runs on your machine.
- Install claude-seo into Claude Code and confirm the install with `/seo doctor`.
- Audit your own site from the terminal and decide which findings are worth the afternoon.
- Plan topics, keep your own evidence, and deliver an approved draft to your repository.
- Tell what your Claude subscription pays for and what your DataForSEO balance pays for.
The course in one paragraph
Doing SEO with Claude means running the work inside Claude Code where you already write. Two pieces cover it. claude-seo is a plugin you install into Claude Code: 26 sub-skills and 19 sub-agents across technical SEO, E-E-A-T, schema, GEO and AI search, local, e-commerce and international work. It runs on your machine, needs Python 3.10 or higher, and works with zero API keys. seodraft is a remote MCP server you connect over OAuth. It keeps the profile, the evidence bank, the topic bank, the editorial calendar and the deterministic rules that decide when a draft is done, and it never calls a model. The writing stays inside your Claude subscription, so a full audit spends more of it than a single question. You approve every article, and delivery puts a draft file in your own repository for you to publish.
What runs where
- Your machine
- claude-seo runs inside Claude Code as a plugin: 26 sub-skills and 19 sub-agents. `/seo setup` creates an isolated Python environment and installs Playwright Chromium, and `/seo doctor` checks it. Every sub-agent it starts is a call on your Claude account.
- seodraft's server
- A remote MCP server at https://seodraft.app/mcp, reached over OAuth. It keeps the profile, the evidence bank, the topics, the calendar and the rules, so the plan survives a closed terminal. Keyword data comes from your own DataForSEO account, with the cost shown before each paid call.
- Your Claude subscription
- Every word is written there, in your own session. Both tools read, check and decide. Five of claude-seo's judgment-heavy agents run on Opus and the rest on Sonnet, which is why a full `/seo audit` spends more of the subscription than a question does.
Syllabus
Module 1 · Preparation
- 1What you are installingA skill, a plugin and an MCP server are three different things. Which of them runs on your machine, and which one spends your Claude subscription.
- 2Install claude-seo and seodraftInstall the Claude SEO plugin from its marketplace or load a clone for one session, build its runtime, and sign in to the seodraft MCP server.
Module 2 · Diagnosis
- 3Run an SEO audit with ClaudeA Claude SEO audit runs eleven sub-agents over your site and returns a scored report. What it checks, how to read the verification section, and which finding to do first.
- 4AI crawlers and agent readinessWhich AI crawlers your robots.txt lets in, what blocking each kind costs, and what claude-seo's agentic and geo agents find when they read your site.
Module 3 · Planning
- 5Keyword research with ClaudeWhat claude-seo can answer about a term without a data provider, what measuring adds, and how to label an estimate so nobody plans a quarter on one.
- 6Topic clusters and cannibalizationHow claude-seo groups keywords by SERP overlap, how seodraft withholds a term for resembling another, and what to do when the two answers disagree.
- 7Build a content brief with ClaudeWhat a brief has to contain, what claude-seo returns from today's SERP, and how seodraft checks the finished article against the plan it promised.
Module 4 · Writing
- 8E-E-A-T and your own evidenceCollect the measured numbers, named cases and mistakes only you have, and make every article cite at least three of them.
- 9Write without AI slopThe tics a reader recognises on sight, the rules that catch them, and how a draft gets rewritten until it passes.
- 10Internal links and the calendarLink a new article into the ones you already published, and put the next four weeks on a calendar you can keep.
Module 5 · Publish and measure
- 11Schema and publishingThe structured data a page earns, the dates every surface has to agree on, and what delivery to your repository does before a human publishes.
- 12AI search and GEOWhat makes a passage quotable by an answer engine, what claude-seo's geo command scores, and which half of that report is an estimate.
- 13Measure and maintainCapture a baseline you can compare against, read what a crawl cannot see, and keep the promise a published article made to its reader.
Who it is for
Founders and developers who already pay for Claude and keep their site somewhere they can edit it. The course assumes you are comfortable in a terminal and have no SEO background at all.
What you need
- Claude Code, signed in to a Claude subscription.
- Python 3.10 or higher on your machine. The claude-seo project recommends 3.11 or higher.
- A site you can edit, ideally a blog that lives in a git repository.
- No API keys. Google APIs and paid MCP extensions such as DataForSEO or Ahrefs are optional.
How this was made
Each lesson was written against the versions listed above, read from the projects' own documentation on the dates given. A lesson whose evidence comes from a real run says so at the top, with the version it ran and the day it ran. The course publishes no number from a run that did not happen, and a new version of claude-seo opens a review of the lessons it touches.

Questions
- Is this course official?
- No. It is independent, with no affiliation to Anthropic or to AgriciDaniel, who writes claude-seo. seodraft wrote it because the two tools are used together here, and the claude-seo project is MIT-licensed and public at github.com/AgriciDaniel/claude-seo.
- What does the course cost?
- Nothing. The course needs no account, and it asks for neither a card nor an email address. The tools have their own terms: claude-seo is MIT-licensed and free, Claude Code needs your Claude subscription, and seodraft runs a 7-day trial with no card before its one paid plan.
- Is the whole course published?
- Yes. The 13 lessons are live in English and Spanish, written against claude-seo v2.4.1 and checked on 2026-10-03. A lesson built on a real run of the tools carries its own version and date, and a lesson without that line claims no run. A new version of claude-seo opens a review of the lessons it touches, so a command that changed gets corrected instead of left standing.
- Does my progress leave the browser?
- No. Ticks and completed lessons live in this browser's localStorage under one key for the course. There is no account behind the course and nothing about your progress reaches a server. Clearing site data resets it, and the pages work without it.
